Straits Times Interview

Best Halloween treat EVER. Period. Was so excited, i stayed up till 2am (whilst working on cakes for next week.) and woke up just as day was breaking at 630am. Reason? My cakes were on today's papers! Nothing big, in fact, just a small colomun amongst many other super duper, uber talented cake decorators, or should i say ARTISTS. Feeling absolutely hornored that i am even featured with the other pros. The article really humbled me, that's not to say that i am arrogant about my cakes, but as the chinese saying goes "with every mountain, there's always an even HIGHER mountain.". I must make it a point to remind myself that with every cake i do that i am pleased and proud of, there's always someone out there who has done it way better than me. That should keep me grounded and my head on my shoulders. : )

Poire De Eve

I have come to be known as the cake woman. Whenever my gfs and i head out to celebrate birthdays, or whenever a family member's birthday is round the corner, its almost a known fact that i will be bringing a cake. I like it! That way i get to practice my cake making and cake decorating skills, though i have made it a point to steer clear of fondant cakes for friends and family, and my lubb's cake was no exception. For my darling H, i made a cake out of flavors that i love; pear, chocolate, praline and caramel. The result was a decadent cake which i love eating layer by layer. Have i mentioned how much I LOVE caramel? SALTED caramel to be exact. The chocolate and salted caramel layers when combined together is reminiscent of that famous candy, Daim.

Nightmare Before Christmas 2 tier Cake

Phew.... I USED to think that i will never work well under pressure, in fact i thought i would BUCKLE under pressure. Whenever i work on anything, i like to take my own time and enjoy the process. But this cake showed me that i CAN survive under pressure (though not necessarily without screaming out expletives in the process). Friday night whilst i was out celebrating my lubb's birthday with my gfs, i got a text from a client who has previously ordered the basketball cake and iPhone cake. Client requested a cake for her sissy who happens to be a Tim Burton movie buff, and sent me a picture of a Nightmare Before Christmas cake she came across over the net. With a deadline looming in just 3 days, i got straight to work on sunday and have been at it right up till this morning!

Garden Themed Anniversary Celebration Cupcakes

A good friend of mine was looking to celebrate her 2 year anniversary with her loved one, and got me to come up with something for her. She did mention that she liked the idea of my cupcakes fitting together to form a whole picture, so the design was based on that idea. The couple in question are not the typical lovey dovey sort, so I opted for something simple, sweet, yet not too cheesy. Hope they liked it! Happy Anniversary E and W!

Miu Miu Purse Cake

So is it a wallet or a purse? Beats me, i can make one out of sugar, but i know nuts about haute couture stuff, save for the usual suspects. Anyways, this order was the result of an advertisement by an old school mate on his FB. Thanks a million dude, if you happen to chance upon this : ) As John Lennon once famously said "I get by with a little help from my friends". How true is that.

Kamen Rider Cake

Avery nice lady emailed me weeks ago to ask if i might do a cake for her 10 year old boy. A Kamen Masked Rider cake to be specific. She said her son particularly liked the belt, dial and a character from this super hero series and asked that the design be based on these three things.

And this was what I came up with.....

Flower and Ribbon Cupcakes

Friday evening, got a text from an old friend who hooked me up with her colleague who was looking to order cupcakes for a farewell party in the office. It was a rush, but I did manage to pull it off over the weekend. The design was simple, and neat, just the way i like it.

Car Cake with Driver and Cupcakes

No, I'm not preggers.... I just like the ring to it. Hur. And also cos I just completed an order for a baby's first month for an old school mate. I love love love doin kiddee cakes! Its where I can let my imagination run totally amok, pair the weirdest of colors together only to realize that, hey! They make a pretty good combination! : )
