Christmas Log Cake

So my last fondant cake for the year 2010 was a fondant covered Christmas log cake. This was done for the lady who kept me busy with a five cake order . She will be travelling to Malaysia this weekend and wanted to bring a christmas cake back for her relatives. But since normal cream based cakes will not last the journey, and christmas fruit cakes are either loved or hated (there's no sitting on the fence when it comes to fruit cakes) by people, we decided to play it safe by doing a vanilla cake with chocolate filling and covered in fondant to make it look like a log.

And as always,  i was a bit over zealous with the "snow", which was made of royal icing, I think i created a "snow storm" instead of a pretty snow covered log. ha.

Anyways, i did a couple of traditional mousse log cakes, but i was a bit caught up with things, and i forgot to take pictures! danggit! I did one for my kick boxing trainer, which was a vanilla sponge soaked in coffee syrup and filled with mascarpone mousse and frosted with dark chocolate ganache, and another for my lubb's family; a vanilla sponge filled with chestnut mousse and frosted with dark chocolate ganache.

As you can probably tell, I'm in an all out christmasy mood already! And my family and i will be taking a trip up to Holland and london till the end of the year, which means i will not be taking in any orders or replying emails during this time! sorry! and to those who have placed orders for january, i have marked down those dates and if i don't reply your mails on time, please don't fret, i will reply when i get back!

last but not least, HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND MERRY NEW YEAR in advance everyone!!!!!!

TILL 2011!!!!
