Golf Green Cake 2

Cake number 6 this week is a golf green cake. A sweet girl dropped me a mail asking if i could do a golf themed cake for her pro golfer popz. And who says makin cakes  has no educational value? I learnt that when golfers lie flat on their bellies they aren't really trying to blow the ball into the hole, but are actually "reading the line". hahaha. oppsie ; P

His and Hers Cupcakes

Another set of pretty cupcakes for a couple's gift exchanging ceremony at their engagement party. SO fun to make. : ) Oh, and color scheme was picked by wife/bride to be. Black and hawt pink for the girls, and black and white for the guys.

Poker Cake

Pardon the haitus. Kids are on school hols now which means i have to be on my toes 24/7 to break up any fight, and be armed with a million and one things to occupy the kids with. On top of that, this month seems to be the busiest cake month. But that's a good thing i guess. Anyways, Tuesday evening an ex classmate came by to pick up a poker themed cake for her popz!

Beach Scene Cupcakes

So today i gave away another set of 12 cupcakes to a nice lady who was looking to celebrate her bf's birthday. She wanted to do a beach scene that was simple, and clean, and picked this picture for me to work with.

Doraemon Cake with Cupcakes

Kinda groggy from the meds I have been taking, down with a viral cold i caught from the kids. : / So pardon my lack of chirpiness. This was done for the same recipient of the doraemon mini cupcakes, for a celebration at home.

Pirate Face Cupcakes

My other favorite cake "order-er" ( the mommy of the recipient of the doraemon cupcakes and ferris wheel cake) got me to make a set of 20 minis for a lil boy turning 5. Best part? I was given 100% free reign of the entire theme and design! I was itching to try out the really cute pirate faces cupcakes that i came across in my "to-go-to" fondant cake book by Planet Cake, so there you go! My first pirate faces a la moi style!

Doraemon Cupcakes

Yesterday i gave away a mini cupcake setup to a cute as a button lil girl who happens to be the younger sissy of the  Ferris wheel cake recipient. She requested to have mini sized 3D toppers of her favorite Doraemon and gang. So this was the outcome of it.

Golf Green Cake

What are the odds of having TWO golf themed cakes on the same day. Plus on a weekend of the Barclays Open? So yesterday i also gave away another golf themed cake. My "regular" cake order-er wanted a golf cake for her golf fanatic friend. Initially we thought of doing a golf bag cake, but the idea was scraped since we decided that for a golf bag cake to look nice, it has to be pretty sizeable, and there won't be that many people to eat up all 50 portions of the cake. So S, my favorite cake order-er came up with the idea of doing a figurine of a lady golfer looking frantic/shocked/blur on a golf green, with her golf bag beside her and golf balls strewn all over. Plus, on the front of the tee has to have the words "FCUK GOLF". Ha. Now you know why S is my favorite order-er? She comes up with the most brilliant ideas : )  And it was the husband that came up with the idea of how to shape the golf green.

Ps: did you count the number of times i wrote "golf" in this short paragraph? My brains a tad wonky today, due to the lack of sleep : /

Sculpted Golf Ball Cake and Golf Themed Cupcakes

An old school mate got me to do a golf themed cupcake "tree" for her pop's birthday bash, just like her mom's. And she also wanted a topper so her pop's could keep it. So i suggested that we do a giant golf ball with a dummy inside. And the rest of the minis were topped with a golf bag and flag with a teeney weeny ball.

Elegant Flower Theme Cake

My jet setter sister in law will be celebrating her birthday next week. But since she wouldn't be around, her loving husband thoughtfully planned a surprise party for her yesterday evening instead. And i was tasked to make a cake for her (told you i am the "cake woman"). I chose a simple, classic and feminine design. And this is my second time attempting a gumpaste flower. Ok, i think i should enrol myself in gumpaste flower making lessons. : /

Baby Faces Cupcakes

So today an ex school mate came to pick up some baby faced cupcakes. She was having a regular meet up with her gfs, and wanted to break the news of her pregnancy through cupcakes! How ingenious!

For Him Cupcakes

Okay, on second thoughts, MANLY and CUPCAKES, just don't sound that right together. Hur hur. But anything's almost possible in cake world. Anyhoos.... Today i delivered a bunch of cupcakes for an old school mate (the recipient of the boob and willy cake ) for her husband's bird day. We decided to have 6 of his favorite things as toppers and although i was this close to becoming crossed eyed permanently, i had fun doing the itty bitty toppers : )

Sculpted Basketball Cake - for Celebrity

So today i delivered another basketball cake, my 3rd so far. This time the cake was done with a slight twist, because the lady who ordered was worried that there might not be enough cake to go around for her party of 25, i suggested that we do a rectangular cake that resembles the floor of the court and place the ball atop. Not only that, we could also throw in a pair of smelly socks. And btw, the cake was meant for her husband's 40th surprise party.

2 tier Ferris Wheel Cake

My lil girl's best friend at school had a "Top of the World" themed party last weekend. It was held at the Singapore Flyer (which is the Singapore equivalent of "The London Eye"). Her mommy got me to come up with a cake for her, with the Ferris Wheel as the main focus. So after much deliberation, this was the outcome of it. My personal preference for cake designs is plain and simple, with not too many colors, so i do hope that the birthday girl liked it. Happy 6th A!!!!!

Basketball Cake, Blackforest Cake, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Spongebob cupcakes, Teddy Bear Cake

The last week was a hectic one, with me churning out 7 cakes in a week. I am bushed. But happy bushed. Working with pressure has definitely forced me to be more efficient and to always think one step ahead. A nice lady who was looking to celebrate FIVE birthdays with the extended family got me to come up with the cakes for her. It was a mix of fondant and non fondant cakes. Oh, and pardon the lousy shots, for we are still figuring out our new toy; the husb just got us a swanky new DSLR! WHEEEEEEEEEE!

SO!!!! Cake number 1 was a basketball cake. It was a chocolate fudge cake with choc ganache.

Mahjong Cake

So my regular and favorite (can't believe i actually have someone order a cake from me not once, not twice, but FOUR times) client got me to make a mahjong cake for her friend who happens to love playing basketball. So she came up with the brilliant idea of using the chinese idiom "bai fa bai zhong", literally translated in english, "hundred shots, hundred bull's eyes. How clever, i say!
